I had the absolute pleasure of capturing Alfie & Katharine’s destination wedding in Florence, Italy, a celebration filled with connection, family, music and all the little moments that made their story completely unique. Alfie & Katharine’s story began in March 2020, during a time when the world was slowing down. They matched on a dating app, a true product of the times, just before lockdowns began. Despite the distance, their connection grew stronger through virtual chats, and they didn’t meet in person until a year later, in August 2021. It may have been a delayed start, but when they finally met, it felt as though the universe had been quietly guiding them toward each other. A Love Story Spanning London, New York & Italy When Alfie moved to New York, their relationship was tested by distance, but their connection only grew stronger. With Katharine visiting when she could, they navigated the challenge together until Alfie realised he didn't want to build a life without her. Alfie & Katharine’s love story is built on faith, connection, and moments that feel just right. Before proposing, Alfie embraced Katharine’s Catholic family traditions and was baptized, showing the depth of his commitment. Then, in September 2024, Alfie whisked Katharine away to the Amalfi Coast, where he proposed in the breathtaking beauty of Italy, just the two of them, in a moment that felt as timeless as their love. A Timeless Wedding in Florence For their wedding, Alfie & Katharine wanted something that felt as personal and joyful as their journey together. They chose Villa di Maiano in Tuscany for their reception, a place that mirrored the romance and timeless elegance they both adore. Their ceremony, held at the Chiesa di San Salvatore di Ognissanti in Florence, would mark the beginning of their next chapter. The combination of Florence’s Renaissance charm and Tuscany’s rolling hills created the perfect backdrop for their love story. For couples planning a destination wedding in Florence or Tuscany, this pairing of tradition and elegance is truly unforgettable. More than just the wedding day One of my favourite parts of destination weddings is that the story often starts long before the wedding day itself. Before Alfie & Katharine said "I do", I had the chance to spend time with them exploring the beautiful streets of Florence, capturing them simply enjoying being together. Wandering through the city, stopping for an Aperol spritz at one of Florence's famous wine windows, and soaking up the feeling of being somewhere so special. But one of my favourite memories from their time in Italy wasn't actually something that happened on the wedding day at all. It was being welcomed into their family's world and sitting down together over pizza after exploring Florence. Those are the moments that remind me why I love destination weddings so much. Yes, the venues, the flowers and the beautiful details are incredible, but what makes these experiences truly unforgettable are the people, the connections and the little moments in between. Being welcomed so warmly by their family and getting to experience a small piece of their Italian adventure was such a special part of telling Alfie & Katharine's story. Moments I loved capturing I absolutely love when couples bring live music into their wedding day because it adds such an incredible atmosphere. Alfie & Katharine’s wedding was the perfect example of this. The string musicians created the most beautiful feeling during the ceremony and cocktail hour, but then later that night the sax player stepped onto the dance floor and completely changed the energy of the room. And honestly, the setting made it even more unforgettable. The dance floor was tucked away inside this incredible cave-like room at Villa di Maiano, with the sax playing, everyone dancing, and the energy in the room building throughout the night. It was one of those moments where you look around and think, this is exactly why I love filming weddings. Their cake moment was another detail I’ll never forget. The Millefoglie cake was absolutely beautiful, but what made the moment even more special was seeing it all come together against the backdrop of Villa di Maiano. There was something so timeless about this beautiful cake, surrounded by the history and elegance of the venue, it was honestly a little bit of "chef's kiss". These are the moments I love capturing, the unexpected ones, the ones that make everyone stop and smile, and the ones that become memories people talk about long after the day is over. Why Tuscany Is Perfect for a Destination Wedding There’s a reason couples travel from all over the world to get married in Tuscany. The combination of incredible food, historic villas, golden light and the slower pace of Italian life creates a wedding experience that feels unforgettable. Working across mixed media, including digital, Super 8, and handycam footage, my storytelling is designed to make you feel seen, celebrated, and remembered: today, tomorrow, and for years to come. My FILMS My approach On your wedding day, my presence is calm, intuitive, and unobtrusive. I won't stage moments or interrupt the natural flow of the day; instead, I quietly observe, allowing things to unfold as they are, so your film reflects your connection, your people, and your story truthfully. Many couples tell me they felt completely at ease, like I was simply another familiar presence there to celebrate alongside them. To me, that comfort is essential; it's what allows real moments to happen. What is there to know about me? I called the world my home for five incredible years, filling my soul with jaw-dropping views, unforgettable flavours, and the magic of new cultures, perspectives, and ways of life. These experiences ignited a real love for videography. I found myself dabbling in shaky, overexposed travel videos, filming beautiful families in Spain, and teaching myself, every day, how to master this amazing art form. That love of travel now shapes my work as a destination wedding videographer across Europe, from Spain to Italy and beyond. I met my husband while living in Spain, and we now have two beautiful daughters who challenge me, surprise me, and keep me growing every day. They are also my greatest joy and the reason for my being. I think of myself as a bit of an introverted badass. I'm quiet by nature (until you get to know me), but bold in life. I've jumped out of planes, shark cage dived in South Africa, camped next to lions in Tanzania, and camped among elephants in Botswana, because why not make life an adventure? Every corner of my home holds a story. It's a tapestry of my travels, filled with art and meaningful pieces reflecting the places I've explored and the experiences that have inspired me. Moments I Loved Capturing One of the things I loved most about Angie & Harley’s wedding was how much personality they brought into every single detail. They gave me the opportunity to step outside the traditional wedding film style and explore something a little more playful, creative and unexpected. Their vision challenged me in the best way possible and inspired me to look at storytelling from a different perspective. From the heart-shaped backdrop and rose-lined aisle, to the disco balls, diner-inspired details, photo games, tattoo station and even a live performance from Harley himself, every part of the day felt intentional and completely them. And then there were the little comforts that made the day feel even more personal. There is something so special about seeing couples bring the things they love into their wedding day and for Angie & Harley, that meant sharing some classic comfort foods with the people they love. Because honestly, there is nothing quite like pizza and ice cream at a wedding. But underneath all of that creativity was the same thing that makes every wedding special, the love, the laughter and the connection between two people who are so perfectly themselves. A Wedding Film Inspired by Their Unique Style When it came to creating their wedding film, Angie & Harley wanted something that felt as unique as they are as a couple. They were drawn to the filmmaking style of Wes Anderson, the playful details, carefully composed frames, symmetry and quirky storytelling that make his films instantly recognisable. They loved the idea of bringing some of that personality into their wedding film while still keeping the heart and emotion of their day at the centre. Their film became a reflection of both sides of their relationship — the deep connection, the heartfelt moments and the fun, playful energy that makes Angie & Harley who they are. The Moments That Matter Most A major part of their day was focused on family, particularly Angie’s parents. While they aren’t always outwardly emotional, having those moments preserved on film meant the world to Angie. Sometimes the quietest moments become the ones we treasure most, a look, a hug, a laugh or a moment we never knew we would want to remember forever. Another important part of their day was honouring Dutch. Although he wasn't physically present, Angie & Harley wanted to include a subtle tribute that helped them feel close to his memory. Others have a personality. Kaidy & Mitch’s wedding was both. From the moment the day began, it was clear this celebration was a reflection of who they are, bold, colourful, joyful and full of life. With vibrant pinks, bright florals and playful details throughout the day, their wedding felt like an extension of Kaidy’s free-spirited and bubbly personality. Every detail added to the feeling of a celebration that wasn’t afraid to be fun and completely themselves. Moments I Loved Capturing One of my favourite things about wedding days is when couples don’t hold back. When they bring their energy, their personalities and their own traditions into the celebration, it creates moments that simply can’t be replicated. Their wedding film needed to feel like them, full of movement, colour, laughter and the kind of energy that makes you smile while watching it back. One of the most memorable touches was the Estonian tradition they incorporated into their day. Throughout the celebration, guests would call out “kiba” (a tradition where guests encourage the couple to kiss), creating a fun and interactive moment that brought everyone together. It was such a beautiful way to include a piece of family heritage while adding even more personality to their celebration. A Celebration Full of Energy The sparkler tunnel was another highlight and such a fun moment to capture. The excitement, the movement and everyone cheering as Kaidy & Mitch made their way through perfectly captured the atmosphere of the day. But honestly, what I loved most about their wedding was the energy they brought themselves. Some couples naturally create a feeling around them, and Kaidy & Mitch were exactly that. They laughed, they celebrated and they embraced every moment, which was exactly what they wanted their wedding film to capture. For Sari & Ben, their wedding day came with a little uncertainty. With a cyclone approaching Northern Western Australia and the possibility of rain reaching Perth and Margaret River Region, there was a chance their outdoor plans might need to change. But instead of letting the weather take away from the day, Sari & Ben embraced it and it ended up creating something even more beautiful. Moments I Loved Capturing Sari was determined to continue with their outdoor ceremony, and I’m so glad she did. The rain added something so special to the atmosphere. The soft skies, the emotion of the ceremony and the beautiful surroundings all came together to create a moment that felt romantic, intimate and completely unique to their wedding day. It was a beautiful reminder that weddings don’t have to be perfect to be magical. Sometimes the unexpected moments are the ones that make a film feel real. Their ceremony was also made even more personal with the inclusion of someone very special — their beloved dog, who took on the important role of ring bearer. It was such a fun and meaningful addition to their day, and a beautiful reflection of how much their furry family member means to them. A Day Filled With Elegance & Celebration Sari & Ben’s wedding was the perfect combination of elegance, style and celebration. From the very beginning, their day felt elevated and thoughtfully planned. Ben’s morning began on a yacht before taking off by helicopter to make his way to the reception, a moment that perfectly captured the scale and excitement of their celebration. Their ceremony and cocktail hour were accompanied by live music, adding such a beautiful atmosphere as guests gathered, celebrated and enjoyed the beginning of the evening together. A Party To Remember What I loved most about Sari & Ben’s wedding was the way they embraced every part of the day — the elegance, the celebration and even the rain. Before Sian & Corey’s wedding, we headed to Cable Beach for a relaxed engagement session. It was such a fun afternoon and gave them the chance to get comfortable in front of the camera, experience how I like to capture moments and, most importantly, just enjoy being together. There is something so special about taking away the pressure of a wedding day and allowing couples to simply be themselves. By the time their wedding arrived, they already knew what to expect, which meant they could relax and enjoy every moment. Moments I Loved Capturing Sian & Corey’s wedding day was beautifully relaxed. There was no rush, no pressure to create something that wasn’t them, just a day spent celebrating their love in one of the most beautiful parts of Australia, surrounded by genuinely wonderful people. And honestly, that was my favourite part. Being surrounded by kind, welcoming people in such an incredible setting is what makes destination weddings so special. The scenery creates the backdrop, but it’s the people, the laughter and the connection that create the story. From the quiet moments together, to the celebrations shared with their family and friends, their wedding felt effortless, warm and completely authentic. Sian & Corey reminded me why I love travelling for weddings.
